Racer Categories

Your age group will be determined by your age on December 31st of the current year, not by your age on race day.

Age Group Information:

Age groups (male and female): 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79,  80+. Racers must be 14 and up to compete.

Open Wave

Participants are encouraged to join this wave if they expect to finish top 50 overall (by gender). Men should have an anticipated finish of 2:15 or better, based on the 2013 course, and women should have a finish of  2:40 or better. *If you sign up for open wave you are ineligible for age-group prizes. All competitors, regardless of division, are eligible for overall awards.

Weight Divisions:

Weight divisions are Athena (female 165 lbs. and up) and Clydesdale (male 220 lbs. and up). Entry in these divisions means you are NOT eligible for awards according to your age. You must select either your Age Group or the Clydesdale/Athena division upon entry.

Relays:

Relay teams can be all male, all female, or coed.

AquaBike:

All AquaBike participants follow the same age group information noted above.

Awards

​

Finishers medals will be awarded to all competitors receive a finisher’s medal in the finish line chute after they have completed completing the race. Awards will be given to the top three finishers of each age group. The awards ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Transition Area.
Aquabike finishers will receive their medals at Bike-In at the Transition Area.

Open Water Swim finishers will receive their medals at the swim exit.
Relays will receive their medals when the runner finishes. The runner will get all of the medals for the team.

Santa Cruz Triathlon will continue providing timing chips to ensure accurate and prompt split times. We are a USA Triathlon sanctioned race. This sanctioning provides all Santa Cruz Triathlon competitors with nationally recognized ranking.
